Our History
The story of Camelback Women’s Health began long before our name appeared on the door.
Drs. DeSanto, Nelson, and Schwartz first worked alongside one another in the OBGYN department of Arizona Physicians Center, a large hospital-owned, multi-specialty practice, together with their former partner, Erin O’Sullivan, MD. Through the years of working closely together, they developed a shared vision for providing women’s healthcare in a more personal, independent setting.
That vision became a reality on September 15, 2000 when they left Arizona Physicians Center and established what would officially become Camelback Women’s Health.
In the years that followed, the practice continued to grow and evolve while remaining dedicated to comprehensive, compassionate care for women throughout every stage of life. Women’s Health Nurse Practitioners joined our team and our services expanded to include convenient in-office procedures, mammography and ultrasound – allowing us to provide an increasingly comprehensive healthcare experience for our patients.
In 2023, Camelback Women’s Health entered a new chapter when we became affiliated with Unified Women’s Healthcare. This partnership provides the resources and support of a national women’s healthcare organization while allowing our providers to remain focused on what has always mattered most: caring for our patients.
Today, we are proud of how far Camelback Women’s Health has come – and even more proud of the relationships we have built with generations of women and families throughout our community. After more than 25 years after our founding, our commitment remains the same: exceptional women’s healthcare delivered with expertise, compassion, and a personal touch.
Our Goals
At Camelback Women’s Health, we have specific goals that help us to provide the highest standard of care in the fields of obstetrics, gynecology, gynecologic surgery, infertility and preventative women’s health care for the women in our community. At our practice, we strive to do the following.
1. Involve our patients in the decisions about their healthcare by listening to their concerns and educating our patients on their particular medical circumstances.
2. Promote a compassionate and caring environment for patients and their families in comfortable surroundings.
3. Maintain a commitment to private medical practice where we can best advocate for our patient’s unique medical circumstances within the local healthcare system and preserve the privacy of their medical records.
4. Commit to continuing education to provide the most up to date treatments for our patients.
